If you live in Chicago, and are missing a glove, start your search here with Amy Weik’s Chicago Streets Glove Project 2013.
Amy has been photographing the random gloves she finds on the streets as she rides her bike. Now up to 200 photos, the Glove Project has a virtual lost and found of some of our residents lost hand warming mates.
When finished, the Chicago Streets Glove Project 2013 will be showing at the Chicago Bike Winter Art Show 2014.
Don’t forget to read the comments to each glove, most of them have a story to tell.
Here are a couple of examples from her collection:
This composition is great. In fact, I think I’m going to make it the new cover photo!
Today’s sermon at church (parkcommunitychurch.com) was about what it means to give generously and to have joy while doing it. It focused on Phillipians 4:10-20, and was the final sermon on the series on Phillipians. So good!
I didn’t ride for a whole week! Why, you ask? First I went to Cyclocross WORLDS in Lexington, KY and it was an unbelievable experience. Next level cycling race. Wow, good times galore. Then not only did it snow all this week in Chicago with icy, slushly roads, but I went to my hometown and had other things going on after work that prevented me from riding.
But I rode today after picking up my rehabbed and overhauled vintage touring bike from Boulevard Bikes!! It is soooo gorgeous – just look at it in this photo!! So purty.
This glove greeted me just outside of Bbikes, right in front of Lula – after I lost my balance due to carrying this box of extra parts and getting used to the new handlebars and pulled into the line of an oncoming Audi A3. Thankfully they were driving slowly and coming to a stop. Embarrassing!
This ORANGE medical glove was hanging out at the bus stop. I wonder who uses orange latex gloves… maybe J Tati for applying the Mastik and/or embro that he loves so?
