Electra’s Amsterdam series is inspired by the two-wheeled vehicle of choice of the inhabitants of its namesake. The city bikes of Amsterdam have basically epitomized European urban utility and convenience for years, and the low-maintenance toughness of these bikes has piqued the interest of many city dwellers here in the states. Electra’s Amsterdam bikes deliver the all of the style, utility and convenience with a few improvements.
All Amsterdam models come with durable double-walled 700c rims surrounded by thick city tires and each wheel is covered by a painted full-coverage fender. They have full-coverage chain guards, internally-geared drivetrains, a big comfy seat and an upright ride.. but this is where the similarities end: The Amsterdam sports a lightweight aluminum frame, Electra’s uber-comfortable Flat Foot Technology and a price point to make the European imports blush.
The Amsterdam is offered in 3 models. The Amsterdam 3i has fenders and a three speed drivetrain. The Premium Amsterdam 8i offers a whopping internal 8 speed along with the additional luxuries of skirted fenders, puncture resistant tires, lights, rear rack, a wheel lockout and a bell. Just for the ladies, there is the Fashion series: a 3-speed which offers a multitude bright, busy and unique paint jobs, brilliant chrome details and brilliantly coordinated accessories (rear rack, seat, skirted fenders and a bell).
